If you have Scholantis SIS Data Sync enabled on your site, you can now invite parents or guardians to receive email notifications when a new post or comment is added to their child's portfolio. You can also send out group emails to all the students' parents or guardians.


This feature will no longer be available as of version 5.2, releasing May 2018. It will be replaced by the Parent Portal.



Access Parent Subscriptions

To access the Parent Subscriptions page:

  • From the Settings Cog click Parent Subscriptions (if Portfolio is enabled, learn about Site Features)
  • Or, from Portfolios, click the PARENTS button.
  • The Parent Subscriptions page displays a class list of student names:
    • To view a student's Guardian information, click on the student name or row.
    • To view the guardian information for all students, click EXPAND ALL.

Send Parent Subscription Invites

To invite all parents:

  • Click the SEND PORTFOLIO INVITES button.
  • Click CONFIRM to send the portfolio invite emails.
  • Invitation emails are sent to all parents, including parents who have not accepted previous invites. 
  • A confirmation notice will appear when invites have been sent. 

To invite a specific parent:

  • Click a student's name to expand that student's information.
  • To invite the parent to subscribe to Portfolio updates, click the SEND INVITE button.
  • Click the CONFIRM button in the dialog box to send the invite.
  • An invitation email is sent to the parent.
  • A confirmation notice will appear when invites have been sent.

How Do Email Invites Work?

Email invitations are sent from a district email address (e.g. noreply@district.com). The email includes a link to subscribe to portfolio notifications (sample below).

Parents must click the Subscribe to Updates link to activate their subscription and start receiving notifications. 

You can check parent's subscription status (see below) and resend invites to all unsubscribed parents using the SEND PORTFOLIO INVITES button (see above).

You can use the EMAIL ALL PARENTS button (see below) to email parents directly with information about portfolios, you might also suggest they check their junk mail folder if they did not receive the invite.

Check Subscription Status & Resend Invite Emails

To see the status of a parent invitations:

  • Click a student's name to expand that student's information.
  • Parents with a green check mark have accepted the invitation.
  • To resend a subscription invite click the RESEND INVITE button or 
  • Optionally, click UNSUBSCRIBE to remove an existing parent subscription.

To resend an invite email to an inidividual parent:

  • Click a student's name to expand that student's information.
  • Parents with a yellow envelope have been sent an invitation but not yet accepted.
  • To resend a subscription invite click the RESEND INVITE button or 
  • Click the CONFIRM button in the dialog box to send the invite.
  • Optionally, click CANCEL INVITE to revoke an existing invite. 
  • Optionally, click UNSUBSCRIBE to remove an existing parent subscription.

To resend invite emails to all parents use the SEND PORTFOLIO INVITES button.


Send Parent Emails

To email all parents:

  • Click the EMAIL ALL PARENTS button.
  • Your email program will launch a new message with all parents email addresses entered in the BCC field to ensure privacy. 
  • If your mail program does not open, or you use web based email, a dialog will open with a list of parent email addresses. 

To invite a specific parent or resend an invite:

  • Click a student's name to expand that student's information.
  • To email the parent or guardian, click the email address
  • Your email program will launch a new message
