On March 10, 2020, a vulnerability in version 3.1.1 of the SMB protocol was disclosed. The vulnerability affects recent versions of Windows that implement SMB compression. An attacker could send a specially crafted packet to gain the ability to execute arbitrary code on a target server or client.
Does this affect you?
This affects Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909, and Windows Server versions 1903 and 1909.
What should you do?
We have already disabled compression on all of your SharePoint servers that are on Windows Server versions 1903 and 1909. We recommend that you disable SMB compression for all other servers with Windows Server versions 1903 and 1909.
Microsoft's advisory for this issue provides steps to disable SMB compression as well as additional information.
